As a public authority, the police are accountable for their actions. Thanks to various laws including the Human Rights Act 1998 and the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984, the police have duties and responsibilites to suspects and victims.
Whether you are suspected of a crime, or the victim of a crime that the police have not taken seriously, we may be able to help you with a complaint against the police.
Legal Aid is available in most cases if you have a low income or are in receipt of Income Based Job Seekers Allowance, Income Support or Pension Credit. If Legal Aid is not available, we will be happy to discuss this with you.
